In April 2025, the US Department of Commerce launched a Section 232 investigation into the national security implications of importing trucks. In October 2025, the U.S. Administration issued a proclamation imposing Section 232 tariffs on imports of Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles (MHEVs), their parts, and buses, effective 1 November 2025.
