How We Meter

To serve our open-access mandate while keeping the lights on, we carefully chose how to meter our MCP plans. In mid-March 2026, we launched a public beta that allowed us to study how users access the GTA database through AI integrations. We have now designed a metric that allows more than half of all queries to use no metered allowance at all. Over 80% of all beta users would not have hit the free-tier limit under the terms below.

Search and aggregate statistics about the trade and industrial policy activity across the world remains free of charge. This includes summary statistics across jurisdictions, policy instruments and products, or combinations thereof.

The metered unit of account in our MCP is the so-called “intervention record”. Intervention records include descriptions written by our analysts, the official source URLs, and other details required for deeper analysis. See the Usage Limits & Waivers section for more details.

Personal Plans

Four personal plans and two team seats, each metered by how many intervention records you pull in a month, not by how many questions you ask. An intervention is GTA's unit of record: one specific policy measure, with its full text, sources, and product-level detail.

Paying annually saves 20% on any personal plan. Applicable taxes are calculated and added at checkout.

Teams Plan

Buying for a team instead of one seat: seats are billed per year, and the monthly allowance is pooled across your whole workspace rather than capped per person.

A team needs at least four seats, including at least one Analyst Seat; the cheapest combination is one Analyst plus three Light seats, CHF 3,400 a year. There is no separate platform or setup fee. Seats added mid-term are billed pro rata for the months remaining.

Enterprise Plans

Need SSO, an SLA, a security review, or redistribution rights? Enterprise terms are scoped and priced individually. Enterprise plans are available through our Corporate Intelligence Services team:

When You Need the API Instead of the MCP

The MCP is built for a person to ask a question inside Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini and read the answer.

Pulling GTA data automatically, at high volume, into your own systems or unattended workflows is a different task. That is what the GTA API is for, licensed separately from the MCP.

MCP usage limits exist to keep it a fast, human-directed research tool. The free tier and the four personal plans above already cover the reading, comparing, and monitoring most people and teams do. Once a workflow moves to automated, programmatic access at volume, the API is the right product to license.
