United States of America: U.S. Administration launches a Section 232 investigation into copper imports over national security concerns

In February 2025, the U.S. President issued an executive order directing the Department of Commerce to investigate whether copper imports threaten national security. Based on the investigation's recommendations, the government may introduce tariffs, import quotas, export controls, or increased state aid to the domestic copper sector.
