In April 2026, the European Commission adopted "The Middle East crisis Temporary State aid Framework (METSAF)" to support sectors affected by the Middle East crisis. This framework allows Member States to provide targeted temporary State aid to companies in agriculture, fisheries, transport, and energy-intensive industries to offset increased fuel, fertiliser, and electricity costs.
