In March 2026, the USTR initiated Section 301 investigations into the acts, policies, and practices of 60 economies related to failures to impose and effectively enforce prohibitions on the importation of goods produced with forced labour. On 2 June 2026, the USTR published a Notice of Determinations and Request for Comments concerning its Section 301 investigations into the failure of 60 economies to impose and effectively enforce a prohibition on the importation of goods produced with forced labour. On 23 July 2026, the U.S. Administration imposed tariffs of 10% or 12.5% on goods from all 60 economies, subject to certain product exemptions, to obtain the elimination of the practices found actionable.
