In November 2025, the European Commission outlined its "Strategic Framework for a Competitive and Sustainable EU Bioeconomy". The Communication proposes measures to build a sustainable, competitive, and nature-positive bioeconomy that strengthens EU resilience. The framework also aims to reduce the EU's reliance on fossil fuels and imported materials, and supports long-term economic and environmental goals.
