In May 2025, the United States initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of silicon metal from Australia, Laos, Norway, and Thailand. In September 2025, a provisional duty was imposed. The investigation concerning imports from Australia, Norway and Thailand is still in progress. In April 2026, a definitive duty was imposed on imports from Laos.
