Portugal: EC approves the introduction and amendment of grant schemes to support Portuguese business in specific sectors (COVID-19)

In January 2021, the European Commission approved relevant amendments to the state aid schemes covered under the Portuguese "Programa APOIAR" (see related state act). These include the introduction of a new state aid measure, "Apoiar Rendas", which further complements the direct grants provided under the amended schemes. An estimated budget of EUR 1.2 billion (approx. USD 1.45 billion) was approved for all measures.
