In June 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce finalised a USD 150 million award under the CHIPS and Science Act to xLight Inc to support the construction and demonstration of a free-electron laser (FEL) prototype intended as an alternative light source for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography.
