In June 2025, Bill 5 ("Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025"), introduced in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in April 2025, received Royal Assent. One of the regulation's stated objectives is to restrict foreign access to the provincial critical minerals and energy sectors.
