In September 2024, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced the launch of a "trade and investment barrier investigation" into Canada's trade measures concerning Chinese-made electric vehicles and steel and aluminium announced in August 2024 (see related state act). In March 2026, the Ministry announced the conclusion of the investigation.
