In January 2021, the European Commission approved four different aid schemes totalling PLN 8.6 billion (approx. USD 2.3 billion) that aim to support Polish companies affected by the restrictions imposed during the second wave of COVID-19. Depending on the measure, the aid will be provided via direct grants or exemptions from payment of social security contributions.
