UK: Further changes to list of shortage occupations

Announcement

18 Oct 2011

On 18 October 2011, the British government accepted the recommended changes to the shortage occupations list provided by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC). The list is important for citizens from non-EU/EFTA countries. Citizens of these countries may only apply for jobs among shortage occupations in order to enter the British labor market. The government estimates that these changes will reduce the number of jobs available to migrant workers under the shortage occupation scheme will fall by 40'000 to now 190'000.
