Sri Lanka: Special Commodity levy increased on crystalline sugar and imposed on maize & sorghum

On 20 December 2016, the Sri Lankan government increased the Special Commodity Levy (SCL) on imports of white crystalline cane and beet sugar.

The Special Commodity Levy is a composite import duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
