EC: Adjustment of tariff quotas for various fruits

Announcement

27 Oct 2014

On 27 October 2014, the European Commission updated the trigger levels on a number of fruits in regulation 1139/2014, thus amending regulation 443/2014 (cf. Related Measures). The trigger level defines the preferential import tariff quota. Imports above the trigger level will be subject to additional duties. Therefore, an increase in the trigger level is seen as an indirect decrease in the import duties, while a decrease in the trigger level represents an augmentation in the import duties. The initial trigger levels were set in regulation 543/2011 (cf. Related Measures). The regulation came into force on 28 October 2014 and the new trigger levels shall apply starting 1 November 2014, 1 December 2014 or 1 January 2015 (depending on the fruit). Update On 4 December 2015, the EC published implementing regulation 2015/2244 revising the tariff quotas for all the products mentioned above (cf. Related Measures). Hence, this measure is no longer classified as implemented. The new quotas came into force on 1 November 2015. However, as the measure had been published only on 4 December 2015, the latter date was set as the inception date of this measure.
