In July 2019, the United States initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of certain collated steel staples from China. In November 2019, a provisional duty was imposed. In July 2020, a definitive duty was imposed. In December 2022, an anti-circumvention investigation on imports from Thailand and Vietnam was initiated. In June 2025, a sunset review on imports from China was initiated, and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in February 2026.
