In February 2021, the European Commission approved the exemption for Italian employers from the payment of their social security contributions for the four weeks of January 2021. A similar measure was also introduced at the end of 2020 (see related state act). This exemption aims at supporting employers negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy.
