On 12 June 2017, the Romanian authorities notified the European Commission of its intention to grant restructuring aid to the state-owned company Compania Nationala a Uraniului SA (CNU). The Commission issued its decision to initiate a formal investigation into the state aid measures on 8 May 2018.
