In March 2026, the Philippines enacted Republic Act No. 12316, which empowers the President to temporarily suspend or reduce excise taxes on petroleum products when global oil prices reach a specific threshold. The measure aims to mitigate the impact of high fuel costs and remains in effect until 31 December 2028.
