In December 2025, the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in India approved the Policy for Auction of Coal Linkage for Seamless, Efficient & Transparent Utilisation (CoalSETU). This policy removes previous end-use restrictions on coal linkages and allows export by permit holders.
