In January 2025, the UK government, through the Automotive Transformation Fund administered by the Advanced Propulsion Centre, secured a GBP 50 million investment deal with JATCO and Nissan to build a new manufacturing site in Sunderland. This initiative aims to unlock private investment in UK automotive as the sector transitions to zero emission technology.
