In July 2024, the government of Shanghai Municipality disclosed the launch of the Shanghai Three Major Pilot Industries Fund with a size of CNY 100 billion. The reported objective of the fund of funds is to support innovation in the fields of integrated circuits, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence (AI).
