On 15 March 2013, upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) updated its rebate regime on tyres.
The ITAC based its decision on the fact that agricultural tyres are produced in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), while races tyres are not. The rebate of duty will be issued through a permit system by the ITAC.
