In December 2023, the European Commission approved a EUR 2.6 billion (USD 2.85 billion) financial grant from Germany. The grant supports SHS Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co KGaA in the decarbonisation of its steel production processes in Saarland, Germany.
