In December 2008, the European Commission imposed a definitive duty on imports of monosodium glutamate from China following the conclusion of an antidumping investigation. In November 2013, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in January 2015. In October 2020, the definitive duty was extended to certain other forms of monosodium glutamate from China following the conclusion of an anti-circumvention investigation. In January 2020, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in April 2021. In July 2024, an anti-circumvention investigation on imports from Malaysia was initiated. In April 2025, a definitive antidumping duty was extended to imports from Malaysia following an anti-circumvention investigation.
