In February 2023, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) signed a loan agreement of EUR 19 million (USD 20 million) with Nippon Paper Chemicals Europe Zrt., the Hungarian subsidiary of Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. The loan is for the production of carboxymethyl cellulose for use in lithium-ion batteries.
