In August 2010, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC) approved USD 21.3 million in funding to Appalachian Valley Fiber Network LLC to expand the deployment of broadband infrastructure in Alabama and Georgia.
