In April 2017, the United States initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of carton-closing staples from China. The investigation is still in progress. In November 2017, a provisional duty was imposed. The investigation is still in progress. In May 2018, a definitive duty was imposed. In April 2023, a sunset review was initiated. In June 2023, the definitive duty was terminated.
