In July 2020, the United States initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of silicon metal from Kazakhstan. The investigation is still in progress. In December 2020, a provisional duty was imposed. In April 2021, a definitive duty was imposed. In March 2026, a sunset review was initiated.
