In February 2018, the United States initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of rubber bands from China, Sri Lanka, Thailand. The investigation is still in progress. In March 2018, the investigation was terminated from Sri Lanka. In July 2018, a provisional duty was imposed on China and Thailand. The investigation is still in progress. In February 2019, a definitive duty was imposed on China. In March 2019, the definitive duty was terminated from Thailand. In January 2024, a sunset review on imports originating from China was initiated.
