In November 2013, the United States initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of non-oriented electrical steel from China, Rep. of Korea and Chinese Taipei. The investigation is still in progress. In March 2014, a provisional duty was imposed. The investigation is still in progress. In October 2014, the definitive duty was terminated from Rep. of Korea. In December 2014, a definitive duty was imposed on China, and Chinese Taipei. In November 2019, a sunset review was initiated on China, and Chinese Taipei and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in December 2020. In November 2025, a sunset review was initiated (notice published in December 2025) and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in May 2026.
