In April 2009, the United States initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of polyethylene retail carrier bags from Viet Nam. The investigation is still in progress. In September 2009, a provisional duty was imposed. The investigation is still in progress. In May 2010, a definitive duty was imposed. In April 2015, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in May 2016. In April 2021, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in October 2021.
