United States of America: U.S. Department of Defense provides funding for the establishment of domestic processing capabilities for light rare earth elements (LREEs)

On 1 February 2021, the Department of Defense (DOD) announced awarding USD 30.4 million to Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (Lynas), the largest rare earth element mining and processing company outside of China, for the establishment of domestic processing capabilities for light rare earth elements (LREE).
