In December 2018, the European Commission initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of biodiesel from Indonesia. In August 2019, a provisional duty was imposed. In December 2019, a definitive duty was imposed. In August 2023, an anti-circumvention investigation on imports from China and the United Kingdom was initiated. In December 2024, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in March 2026.
