In March 2018, the European Investment Bank Group granted a European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI) loan guarantee to BBVA. The loan guarantee will support BBVA's financing of new investment projects to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-cap companies in Spain.
