In March 2018, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of phenol from the United States, the EU, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Thailand. In May 2019, a provisional duty was imposed. In September 2019, a definitive duty was imposed. In September 2024, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in August 2025.
