In April 2013, the Government of Brazil announced the introduction of a set of measures to promote investments in ethanol. These actions included the reduction of the PIS/Cofins taxes, a production subsidy to increase the production of ethanol, as well as the decrease of the annual interest rate set on several credit lines financed by the government.
