In April 2013, the Turkish authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of polyester fibre from Iran. A safeguard measure was imposed in 2013. In April 2017, a sunset review was initiated and in August 2017 the definitive safeguard duty was extended. In December 2019, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in May 2020. In April 2023, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in September 2023.
