In October 2016, the Salvadoran authorities initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of latex-based (water-based) architectural paints from the United States of America. A definitive duty was imposed in April 2018. In October 2022, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in May 2023.
