On February 17, 2014, the Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES) and the Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (FINEP) announced a new set of subsidies and lines of financing worth USD 620 million to be given to companies who produce sugar cane or research products that directly benefit the supply of the sugar cane industry in Brazil.
