On 14 September 2010, the Brazilian government announced a temporary tariff reduction on the ad-valorem import duty from 10% to 0% for cotton not carded/combed, classified under the 8-digit codes 5201.00.20 and 5201.00.90 of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM).
On 5 May 2011, the Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution no. 27, extending the measure by one month until 30 June 2011.

Import tariff quota
The tariff reduction is limited to a quota of 250,000 tons, loads recorded by the Import Declaration between 1 October 2010 and 31 May 2011.
