In May 2024, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) announced providing KRW 49.4 billion to support Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in the development of a single-seat FA-50 fighter jet. According to the release, the stated objective is to expand the export of the jet to the United States and other countries.
