In June 2020, the authorities of Argentina adopted a new regulation expropriating the American company Vicentin for an initial period of 60 days to avoid the default of the company. The decision was based on the argument of "food sovereignty" and was triggered by the economic pressure set by the COVID-19 outbreak on Argentina's finances.
