In May 2018, the United States issued a Proclamation imposing 232 import tariffs on certain aluminium goods from Canada, the European Union and Mexico as well as the Republic of Korea and Brazil. Additionally, the Proclamation introduces import quotas on certain aluminium goods from Argentina.
