China: New regulations effectively exclude foreign companies from providing cloud-based services in the PRC

December 28th, 2015 - China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced an update to its regulations classifying telecommunications services, which now includes cloud-based Internet services. Such services must now locate all their operational equipment in the PRC; any data transfer abroad is effectively prohibited, making it near impossible for foreign firms of this type to do business in China.
